Preliminary Report on Tibet

Tibet

There are many countries that fascinate me by their distinct culture and ethnicity, one of them is Tibet, and so I decided to interview a person who is from Tibet. Doing this would give me an opportunity to know more about Tibet. Tibet was a free country before 1950. In October 7th, 1950, the People’s Republic of China took control over Tibet. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invasion_of_Tibet_(1950–1951), Oct 20th, 2009)

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geography_of_Tibet, “Tibet is often called "the roof of the world", comprising table-lands averaging over 4,950 meters above the sea with peaks at 6,000 to 7,500 m, including Mountain Everest.” It has many neighboring countries such as China in the northern and eastern part, Kashmir a part of India in the western part and Nepal, China, Bhutan in the southern part. The capital of Tibet is Lhasa, where Dalai Lama is lives. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalai_Lama,” The Dalai Lama is a lineage of religious officials of the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism. "Lama" is a general term referring to Tibetan Buddhist teachers. In religious terms, the Dalai Lama is believed by his devotees to be the rebirth of a long line of tulkus, who have chosen to be reborn in order to enlighten others. The Dalai Lama is often thought to be the director of the Gelug School, but this position belongs officially to the Ganden Tripa, which is a temporary position appointed by the Dalai Lama (who in practice exerts much influence).” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geography_of_Tibet, Oct 20th, 2009)

Tibet has followed Buddhism after the introduction of the religion. It was introduced in 7th century. Due to the climate, people there can grow only few crops. They usually grow barley, and make flour out of it. Other than that people there eat dairy product daily such as butter, cheese and milk. They eat yak, goat and mutton meat. 3. A good first try; be sure to clearly keep your own text and imported text apart and use quotation marks for borrowed text, that immediately precede/conclude the text copied. No spaces.
    cheers
